obsolete portals (take 5)
This piece is from my most recent full-length album, impromptus in isolation, released 2022 on the record label, Sound As Language. It is one of two albums I composed and recorded at home during the pandemic. All the music on this album was performed with a modular synthesizer and recorded live with no overdubbing.
It is representative of work in which I build generative compositions with distinct sections and then improvise within those structures. Part of the concept behind this record was performing with my synthesizer as a duo partner since I couldn't perform with others during the pandemic. Thus, I would build up these self-playing systems and then improvise within and as a part of them.
debris fields (take 2)
Recorded live without overdubs, debris fields (take 2) is the final track from my album impromptus in isolation released June 2022 on Sound As Language (Carolinas). It was originally created and filmed for a virtual concert during the pandemic. Later, video artist Paloma Kop, used the original performance video as a basis for creating a new video art piece utilizing obsolete and modified video equipment.
sand in my pocket (take 4)
This piece is from my full-length album, "Voltage Scores", released 2021 on the record label, Oxtail Recordings. It is representative of a completely generative composition with distinct formal sections.
With this piece, after I finished composing (creating the generative synthesizer patch), I didn't interact with the synthesizer and instead left it alone to play itself from beginning to end. During those sessions, I recorded multiple live takes of the system running. Eventually, I chose my favorite for the album.
swollen organs (take 13)
This piece is from my full-length album, "Voltage Scores", released 2021 on the record label, Oxtail Recordings. It is another example of a completely generative composition with distinct formal sections.
